F-Tech Precision Engineering’s multi axis CNC turning services are provided by a team of skilled engineering technicians with vast experience.

Our state-of-the-art machinery uses live tooling, enabling features such as radial holes, flats, grooves, and slots to be added to the part. This reduces set-up and process time, whist increasing accuracy. We also have bar feed capabilities, allowing large batch runs and lights-out machining.

Turning capacity ranges from 1mm to 870mm diameter and we work with a range of materials including aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, tungsten, magnesium castings and aluminium castings.

What is CNC Turning?

CNC turning is a subtractive manufacturing process, programmed and managed by computer numerical control (CNC).

The process involves a bar of material being rotated on a lathe at speed. A cutting tool is applied to the surface to remove material and machine it into the required shape or to your CAD file.

F-Tech Precision Engineering’s lathes incorporate live tooling, which enables features usually associated with milling operations to be carried out during the turning process. This reduces process time and cost, whilst also increasing accuracy.

For small intricate parts requiring CNC turning, F-Tech Precision Engineering uses sliding head lathes, whereby the stock bar is fed through a guide bushing device which supports the material as the tools engage the cut.

By combining main and sub spindles with a range of tooling, set ups and process times are vastly reduced and parts can be machined complete.

F-Tech Precision Engineering has vast experience in large diameter CNC turning, and regularly works with magnesium castings up to 700mm diameter.

The same level of precision, quality and expertise is applied to all sizes and quantities of CNC turning, whether for small numbers of custom prototype components or large production runs.
